Smart Panel Installation Checklist
Before Mounting
☐ Service fully de-energized and verified (metered)
☐ Lockout / tagout applied as required
☐ Correct panel location verified
☐ Working clearances meet NEC 110
☐ Mounting surface structurally sound
☐ Internet access confirmed (Ethernet preferred)
Mounting
☐ Factory knockouts only used
☐ Panel level and fully secured
☐ All mounting fasteners installed
☐ Enclosure undamaged
☐ NEMA rating preserved (gaskets, fittings, seals)
Wiring – High Voltage
☐ Service conductors landed per labeling
☐ Neutral and ground bonded per system design
☐ Main and branch conductors sized correctly
☐ Breakers approved and installed in correct positions
☐ All terminals torqued to manufacturer specifications
Wiring – Branch Circuits
☐ Breakers fully seated on bus stabs
☐ Neutrals landed in correct WAGO blocks
☐ Grounds landed in designated ground terminals
☐ AFCI/GFCI pigtails installed correctly (if applicable)
Current Transformers (CTs)
☐ Main CTs installed
☐ PV CTs installed (if applicable)
☐ Generator CTs installed (if applicable)
☐ CT orientation arrows verified
☐ CTs fully closed and secured
☐ CT leads routed through low-voltage pathways only
Communications
☐ Ethernet connected and link verified
☐ Wi-Fi configured only if Ethernet unavailable
☐ No LV wiring routed parallel to HV conductors
☐ Powerblocks / inverter communications connected (if applicable)
Commissioning
☐ Panel powered on successfully
☐ Status LEDs indicate normal operation
☐ Installer App setup complete
☐ Hardware registered
☐ Circuits assigned and labeled in app
☐ Loads visible and controllable
Solar (AC / DC) Checklist
☐ Inverter UL listing verified (UL 1741 SA or equivalent)
☐ PV breaker sized correctly (≤100A AC-coupled)
☐ DC conductors terminated only at inverter (DC systems)
☐ PV CTs installed and oriented correctly
☐ PV production visible (inverter and app)
☐ Utility interconnection approval on file
Battery / Energy Storage System (ESS)
☐ ESS listed (UL 9540 / 9540A as applicable)
☐ Battery or inverter breaker installed and labeled
☐ Grounding and neutral scheme verified
☐ ESS labeling applied per code
☐ Battery charge and discharge confirmed
☐ Backup mode tested
Generator Checklist
☐ Generator rating within supported limits (≤20 kW)
☐ Generator breaker installed in designated slot
☐ Neutral / grounding configuration verified
☐ Auto-start wiring verified and isolated (if applicable)
☐ Generator CTs installed and oriented correctly
☐ Generator start and load acceptance tested
Final Job Site Close-Out
☐ All conductors torqued (final verification)
☐ CT readings verified for polarity and accuracy
☐ Panel and circuits labeled
☐ Enclosure closed and secured
☐ Installation photos taken
☐ AHJ documentation prepared
☐ Customer handoff completed
